Chavutti Thirumal
Massage by Foot Pressure
Originating from Kerala in Southern India, Chavutti Thirumal was developed from an ancient martial art form, Kalarippayattu, which also embodies elements of dance (Kathakali), Yoga, and Ayurvedic Medicine. This unique massage was developed for healing as well as maintaining suppleness and flexibility in the body. Chavutti Thirumal is a full body oil massage, principally applied with the bare feet although the hands are used for the finishing touches. The beauty of using the foot is that the range and depth of movement is maximized and thus each sweeping stroke covers the whole length of the body from the tips of your fingers to the tips of your toes. By gently stretching and realigning the spine, these long, graceful strokes help to create space between previously compacted vertebrae, leaving you feeling taller as well as deeply relaxed.
Chavutti Thirumal can help:-
Muscle spasm and back tension
Alleviate muscular pain, stiffness in joints and any restricted movement that may arise from too much or too little exercise
Relieve deep-seated tension that people have learnt to live with
Improve circulation and energy flow
Alleviate fluid retention and aid in the breakdown of cellulite
Improve suppleness, flexibility, bad posture and mental stress
Clear troublesome emotions and psychological blocks
Assist the body in initiating its own detoxification process and encourage self healing
Deepen the breathing pattern
Link the mental and physical aspects of the body - thus encouraging self expression, extending the
capacity for mental concentration and cultivating energy and inspiration.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A TREATMENT
The treatment begins after an initial consultation. A towel is provided in place of underwear (although it is fine to keep your underwear on if you feel more comfortable that way) and your body is liberally dowsed with warm oil. Your body is then massaged with the feet whilst the practitioner's balance is held by a suspended rope. The practitioner keeps one foot on the ground and at no point does he put his whole weight on your body. The finishing touches are done with the hands. The full treatment lasts approximately 90 minutes however it is possible to have a shorter treatment focusing mainly on the back although more benefit would be felt from the whole treatment.
Traditional Thai Massage
important part.
Thai Massage blends styles from Asian neighbours passed down through the generations. Unlike the scooping and continuous strokes of Western massage, the Thai method uses point pressure, muscle stretching and compression, done in a rhythmic movement of gentle rocking.
In Thai massage it is not just the hands that are used to free tension from the recipient's body, but the therapists feet, forearms, knees, and elbows as well. Thai massage is never painful. Thai massage is applied on a mat on the floor, the work is done fully clothed and no oils are required.
Thai medical massage can move deeper into the mechanical functions of the body, working with deep muscle tension and joint mobility as well as nerve, muscle and ligament balancing.

What does it treat?
Tui Na treats chronic pain, especially that caused by muscle-skeletal conditions and injuries. Neck, shoulder and back pain and immobility, sciatica and 'tennis elbow' all respond very well. Headaches, migraines, IBS, constipation, PMS and a whole range of emotional problems can also be treated.
This ancient Chinese bodywork is now gaining rapid acceptance in the Western world.
Tui Na (pronounced 'twee-nah') massage is a complete healing system, like acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
